Yeah I know what you mean. I've used Rubbermaid storage boxes for a long time because they were so wide.

The one the painted was in was starting to wear out then I had to buy a new filter for him. The new filter didn't fit the box very well.. I said ya know we've got to get a real glass tank for him. So we did that then Scooter the mud seemed to be in such a ghetto that I started looking for him a new tank.

I was very skeptical about the 55 we got for the painted at first because it's so narrow. But we were able to give him such a higher level of water that he seemed to really love his new home right away. I expected him to take some time to get used to it but he was cruising around like he was thrilled right off the bat.



I wanted the 40 breeder for the mud but it took forever to even find one. He's taken to it better than I ever expected. I'm still not raising his water level really high just yet but each time I clean I raise it a bit more & so far so good.
