One thing to keep in mind is that the alligator snappers are crawler/ underwater climber types vs. really strong swimmers. I personally wouldn't keep one in water that is too deep for the AS to reach from the bottom when his body and neck are fully extended. If you must have deeper water, Steve's idea of logs and branches is much better than stacked rocks for these guys.
