How big are the Glossies kept by your friend? I've got an unsexed adult that I caught as a subadult that is now around 3'. The baby was easier to feed mice to than the subadult (which wouldn't eat for 2 weeks). The baby ('06 hatchling) just ate its first unscented pinkie 4 days ago and I handled it for the first time last night. My Glossies pretty much avoid daylight also, but are active @ night. I don't understand why these snakes are not more popular in the pet trade. Granted some Rosies, Kings, and Gophers are a bit prettier w/ locale specific markings, but aside from that Glossies aren't that different as far as captive care requirements go.
Longnose snakes are one of the snakes I hope to see this year while road cruising. I wonder if whether they'll take mice or not depends on the region they're from. I know there are tons of rodents out in the Lancaster/Palmdale area. Dang near impossible to keep from running overthem while road cruising.
