question about set up for baby snapper

Hi, I wanted to use a smaller rubbermaid bin for my new baby common snapper and I was just kind of confused how I will be able to add a filter. I normally have the regular filters that sit on the top of the aquarium. That I can imagine would not work on a plastic bin. Could you guys give me any ideas? Thanks.
