I was having a snakeless Vegas trip, due to bad weather. On my last full day, I went road hunting in the early evening. I saw the snake lying in the road in the opposite lane. It was not moving and I figured it was a Glossy Snake (which are very easy to catch).

When did a U-turn and pulled onto the shoulder next to the snake, I looked out the window and said "Wow, that's a patchnose!" It's the first one I've ever seen "in person." The snake immediately darted in front of the parked car and took off across the desert.

I got him on the first grab, though he bit repeatedly and didn't want to stay still at all for photos (those things are hyperactive). It was a perfect way to end a herping vacation.
