>>Woah! Whole apples? Watermelon? I was thinking about some turnips and grape tomatoes (cut up...he's only about 4-5".

The apples were left whole and just thrown in the water and he would chomp down and smash them flat and then chase after the pieces and eat them. The water melon was sliced. During the summer we have daycamps for kids and every friday is watermelon day for the kids.. all the turtles get some of that as a treat too.

As for chicken, we always boiled our chicken before feeding it... reduces salmonella problems. Occasional frozen thawed mice were on the menu too. As was fish from the fish market.. we'd chop it up into large hunks... freeze them in single serve portions.. then once a week thaw one packet out in the fridge overnight and feed to the next day.
