As you can see, I am new to owning a horned lizard (hl as I saw on your forum). I've been reading and this is what I would like to verify. I put her (the person who sold hl to me says it's a girl)in a 10 gal aquarium with a sand product called vita sand. I have a 75 watt uva bulb over one end of the tank where I also have a fake rock and a themometer that registers 90 degrees. On the other end of the tank is a shallow water dish and a themometer that registers 75 degrees. I turn the light off at night and she burrows down into the sand. I have read that they need harvester ants. I have ordered some, but am feeding her crickets in the meantime. She seems to like them. I've read she needs water a couple of times a week with a mist or eyedropper. I tried the mist, it terrified her. She gets in her water dish often and gets wet. I don't know if this is intentional or she is just roaming around. Will she drink water from here or is she in the water to much. I'm not going to mist her anymore as it is so terrifying (I may need to try the dropper). Will she be ok eating nothing but crickets until ants come. I've had her 4 days and crickets are all I have to give her right now, expecting ants in a couple of days. Any help appreciated.
