early last year my mom brought me some toad eggs, they were being run over by some kids on 4 wheelers going through the puddle they were in.
once the tadpoles got their legs and obsorbed their tails I took them to a wooded area about a mile away and let them go, since then I've been finding toads in the yard, found a couple that were brick red, last year I found 7 in one month and today I found 2, when I find them I take them for a short drive and let them go, I'd hate to run one over with a lawn mower.
before hatching the eggs and letting the toadlets go we never saw a single live toad in 5 years and none of the dead ones were near the house, so is it possible that my babies are coming back? do toads usually find their way back to their hatching place? the area I let them go in had a nice vernal pool, a stream and plenty of bugs.
