I've considered it but haven't tried it to date. You should give it a go for sure. The one concern I had was it accumulating junk and being a germ basin. But if you can clean it easily and maybe disinfect it once or twice a month it could be good.

The closest I've come is to have a drip that ran down the rocks and into a pool in a shallow rock. It worked great as the drops did attract attention. I had that in with my hatchling cornutum two years ago and relied on that most of the winter to water them. I haven't misted mine since. This last year I found that they were equally willing to use a shallow basking rock under the light that would hold about 1/4 inch of water. I used a stream from my spray bottle and the movement would attract them again. Also, the splashing water would make them instinctively run to "higher ground" which was the basking rock full of water.
It works very well too.
