ok a quick up date... the female I have working with (and pestering you good people about) is now eating with some gusto. She still expects me to sit on the floor and feed her but what ever her highness wishes... Anyway she has pooped twice in a month and a half but the most recent being a few days ago. She is still full of gravel that she injested at her "other" home.
Doc sez "Its a little like waiting for gravel to wash down stream...as long as she's eating willingly the gravel will exit, sooner or later. So here I sit. In the meantime her owner said she wants me to take her and the larger male on a permanent basis. Good for the tortoises, no more gravel pens, no more cold wet winters. Bad for me because I can't say NO and now I need as many ideas on housing these two as you folks can muster. I live on the Oregon Coast so they will have a need for a large indoor enclosure as well as the yard pen for the sunny days (we do have warm dry days...just not tons of them.) Of course I'm on a budget so creative alternative ideas are ideal!
Thanks and we'll keep pestering you until you tell us to go away! Just kidding. Best wishes to you and your tort friends!!!
