I've been doing research trying to find out what the ideal location and method would be for locating Western Skinks (blue tailed when young). I'm in the northern California area, specifically Redding, and I cannot locate any, however I think I may be looking in the wrong place. I find Western Fence Lizards and Northern Alligator Lizards all the time, but I've read that the skinks are more reclusive. I had a friend in my childhood who found them somewhat frequently, so I know they are in or around the area. Would anyone have any information or advice on finding these secretive lizards? Thanks much!
