I was just reading some of the posts here on the subject and thought I would give an actual experience of mine. I guess my example would be more of crowding but the same applies to mixing because of the stress it puts on the animal. I have a custom built tank that is 9 cubic feet in space so that would be about 40 -50 gal?? I have kept only two Whites tree frogs in this tank One of them passed away after about 3-4 years old. It developed those light green dots and died. The other frog started getting those same dots but after another four years of having the tank all to himself the dots are long gone and he is doing fine now. So this frog is now seven years old and seems happy and sometimes I get to him call out. So to the people that reply to posts about crowding /mixing and state "everything must be fine because I have kept them like that for six months now" , is baloney. Do you think 3 plus years for a frog that should live more than 10 years is a success, I dont believe so. And the symtoms of the other frog disappeared when he no longer had to share his space that I thought would have been plenty for two. Reptiles and amphibians are not social creatures, they don't need a buddy and especially of another species.
