Yes, T. lepidus, like all heliophile (sun loving) lizards require UV (UVB, as well as UVA) radiation in order to stay healthy and behave normaly. In addition to UV they need very intense light source which is best achieved by using metal-halide lamps (usually marked as HQI, HSI or more advanced HCI and CDI).
