Unfortunately these lizards were all over the classifieds a few months ago and I even found some locally (Michigan) labeled as Clubtail iguanas. I already had a young adult pair but I bought several of the babies that I found available. Glades did have a few and I saw some on the classifieds, first offered very inexpensively and then the price shot up when the seller found out what he actually had.

Palearis are protected by the government of Guatemala now but that didn't stop someone from exporting a large number of them illegally. I even saw one a few months ago for adoption from a rescue near the east coast. I was tempted to adopt it but that particular rescue does not ship animals.

I also enjoy keeping this species. They are active and curious yet very cautious. Definately an exhibit animal, not a hands-on lizard.
