I've had my three mint terribilis for about three years now and have never heard them call or make any noise until today. I understand that both sexes are vocal, and they may have more than one call for different situations, but have never before heard them make so much as a peep.



I decided their 80 gallon tank really needed a serious trim job and plant removal, so really ripped into it. These guys aren't the least bit intimidated by any activity, so they tend to hop right up to whatever I'm doing and get in the way. Today, they were very vocal about this, sounding like a tree full of scolding squirrels. While I've had other brave darts such as galactonotus get right in on the action, I've never before heard any of them call while I'm messing around. Two hours later, they are still at it. They don't seem to be following each other around and are just doing their persistent food hunting. Just from body habitus, I think I may have 2 males and one female, but am unsure of this. They have always hung out in more or less the same area on the ground, but have been totally indifferent to each other except for some accidental collisions when they are after flies.



I'm just wondering if anyone else has ever noticed them chattering when they are more or less excited?
