i don't know where you heard red eyeds die very easily, but anyway...they don't. they are pretty hardy if you take good care of them. you could probably put 2 in that sized tank, i wouldn't do more than that though. green tree frogs are even hardier if you are worried about them dieing. whites treefrogs are also hardy and IMO the best beginner species, but that sized tank is too small. you could always get a baby and then eventually put it in a bigger tank. fire bellied toads would probably do well in that sized tank. they will actually climb a bit if given the opportunity. they need a bit of water, a large water dish will work, or a paludarium type set up. the water doesn't need to be deep, 1-2 inches is fine. good luck and please feel free to contact me with any questions b/c i have kept all these froggies.
