I have a female RES, rescued two years ago, who has seriously lost her appetite and become much less active. This started about 3 weeks ago, but slowly. I feed her a wide variety of foods-quality commercial pellets, variety of healthy greens and fruits, feeder fish, meal worms, redworms, crickets, etc. Until said symptoms began she was a voracious eater, I mean VORACIOUS! She'd eat my finger if i let her. About 3 weks ago, I left town for a few days, so I put about 12 comet feeders in her tank, so she could eat for a few days. I've done this probably 7 times in the past, no problem. Soon after i returned, I noticed a slight decrease in appetite, not in activity. For the past few days shes only eaten a little bit of grape, and been very inactive. Mainly staying on her basking platform or in the water underneath the platform (its clear). She doesnt want pellets or greens or anyhting else. But today she would not eat at all. At different times I placed a bit of grape, a meal worm, some pellets, a romaine leaf directly in front of her. Other than being scared her only real reaction was to the grape and the meal worm. She acted like she was going to eat them but then she looked like was going to vomit. Her mouth opened real wide and she stretched out her neck. Did not eat either, then slowly swam away. Very strange behavior for her. Visually, she looks fine.
Soup lives alone in a 25 gal tank w/ only the basking platform. Water temp is approx. 78, basking temp approx. 82. I treat the water when changed (last change 10 days ago). Her carapace-approx 8 1/2"L X4 1/2" W. Any suggestions will help.
