Hello all, I've been thinking about doing a nice planted tank with some darts for awhile now and i think i'm just about ready to start building the enclosure. My main question involves the substrate and the ability to have the plants thrive. I took a look at blackjungle.com and the said to have good drainage (for which i think i have something in mind already)and that the substrate had to have certain properties (e.g. retain a certain amount of moisture, but still able to drain; be light and aerated). It sounds like a coconut based substrate would work towards my needs, but is that alright for the plants? don't they need more of a soil or is such a loamy substitute alright? Another issue I have is that if I go with the coconut is there anywhere to get it in bulk? (cage measurement is 8'x2'x2'). And my third question is this, which frogs do better in larger areas and are less likely to hide away? Any and all help is greatly appriciated and sorry for the long post. I'm located close to Columbus, Ohio if anyone knows of a good shop for supplies near there.
