If you keep woods or spotteds in MD, you need to see the proposed changes to MD regulation over in the Herp Law forum.

Breeding (of at least native species) will be legal with a permit once the new regs go through. For woods and spotteds, that means the adults have to have proof that they were not taken from the wild in MD or were in possession before 1993. If you have more than one of each species, you'll need a permit, and need a permit to breed. You'll have to keep breeding records, and your paperwork and animal housing area is subject to inspection at any "reasonable" time by DNR.
