But, when it became apparent that the Board of Directors, particularly the President & Vice President, were not going to support or recognize the Shreveport chapter, it was reorganized as the Southern Herp Society. To bring forth programs and benefits for members requires a strenuous effort. Officers at the LGCHS found this out when they discontinued benefits & communication with me and thought that the Society would run on auto pilot. When I was the Secretary, the Society had over 100 sustaining members every year. Membership is but a fraction of that now.
