Common names: scheltopusik, European legless lizard, European glass lizard, giant Russian glass lizard

1) Which is currently more acceptable: Ophisaurus apodus, or Pseudopus apodus?

2) How many subspecies are there (2 or 3)?

3) What are the differences between the subspecies? And can they be identified without knowledge of the individual's geographical origin?
