I've had quite a few frogs over the years, but not in the past five years or so. I've just set up a terrarium again.

I recently purchased a few reed frogs (two arrived on Friday, and the remaining four today), and the two gold and brown reed frogs (hyperolius nigeriensis) that arrived four days ago have already laid eggs on the terrarium glass! Does anyone know whether reed frog males are among the frogs that will carry tadpoles on their backs to a water source? I have my doubts that the tadpoles will do well once they fall into the moss and coconut bark on top of my mesh screen and clay substrate. But, I've heard that moving the eggs will likely damage them, and also I like the idea of their growing up in the terrarium with the other frogs. Plus, I wouldn't know what to do with them if a massive number survived--I can only fit a certain amount in the terrarium, even if it is largish, and not all of my friends will want frogs.

I've read that with other frogs you can place a few baby food jars full of water around the terrarium, and the male will deposit the tadpoles in the jars. Any clue whether this will work with reed frogs?

Any advice?

thank you!
~Ruth
