the word AKC comes to mind. how about AHHC American Hybrid Herp Club, or NHHS National Hybrid Herp Society, or WEIRDA World Ectotherm Integrade Reptile Domestication Association. just an idea!
How about "National Herp Registry." I not only do hybrids but am trying to locality breed pure species. I'm trying to establish a line of blue racers, for instance, in which all the founding stock were caught within a quarter mile of each other. A lot of people breeding pure species are worried their lines will be contaminated with genes from other species by buying hybrids that look like the species they are breeding. Registering their breeding stock and buying only from others with registered breeding stock would largely prevent that.
And yes, I want to see breeds of domestic snakes, preferably ones that look radically different from snakes found in the wild and with traits that can be more or less standardized into different breeds. As I understand it, it is illegal to have pet snakes in Georgia that are entirely or partly the same species as found in the wild in that state. As far as I know, it is illegal to keep a snake so obviously domesticated as a snow corn in that state simply because cornsnakes are native species. That's plain stupid but apparantly also the law. Before all the states in the nation make such a law, I'd like to see snakes so genetically mixed it would be impossible to tell ancestry without a DNA test.
