I'm curious what the record lengths are for the various races of L. zonata. I read, I believe, in the Brian Hubbs book that the record length for any zonata is 46 inches. That record belongs to a wild caught captive Sierra Mtn. King collected near Mammoth that has grown to this size in captivity. I have a male L. z. parvirubra collected in the San Gabriels in June 1984 that measures 43 inches. I believe he is around 29 years old. The largest San Bernadino form I have ever read about was 42 inches so I wonder if he might hold the record for size for his race. Also, I've read that L. z. agalma is a small form with adults reaching only 24 to 30 inches but I have read about a captive male agalma that was 40 inches long.
