copied from kingsnake forum: Hello all, My name is Jeff and I am looking to start breeding my Cal. Jungle King. She is breeding size, eating fine, and is healthy in every way. So I figured it was time.
I had a couple of questions for those of you who are more experienced than I with breeding kings before I purchased a male king for breeding early next year:
1/ I have been reading all I can about how to breed kings, and I have some experience breeding corns, but are there any really good online pages on the subject?
2/ Are there any difficulties when trying to breed a cal. king with a variable or mountain king? How does breeding work across sub species of kingsnakes? How does breeding work if I were to get a hybrid male (like an Imperial or a Jungle)?
3/ My king does have some corn genes (I believe about 25%). Am I going to encounter any difficulty with breeding?
4/ After breeding corns (an Amel to a snow) I noticed that there was a significant amount of pattern and color mixing between the parents. Can I expect similar results from kingsnakes?
5/ Does anyone know what colubrid breeders will be at the havre-de-grace show this weekend?
Thank you for your time, Jeff
