It's not all that uncommon to see my sheen skink in her water dish for a few hours, especially before a shed. But what scared me tonight was that she was curled up in there with her eyes closed, chin along the bottom, and nostrils completely submerged. I was afraid she'd drowned! I petted her for a minute to see if that would get a response, but she really doesn't care if you touch her back or tail, so she slept right through it. It wasn't until I started to pick her up that she suddenly woke up, but she seemed fine. So I left her in there to keep soaking. I guess if they want to soak their whole face they can just take a nap under there, and bob up for air when they need to without even having to be conscious for it. Turtles can, why not lizards? It surprised me though. Has anybody else seen this?
