First off, ditz the crickets, Dekay snakes will not eat crickets.

We find tiny slugs at dusk under leaves, rocks and crawling on blades of grass.

In a pinch, it sounds gross, but take a single edge razor blade and chop up an adult slug.

It is the scent that triggers feeding.

I have always "tease feed" my dekays by placing the slug on the end of a toothpick, and slowly jiggling it in their faces.
