Go to your local Wal-Mart, Grab a bag of there cheapest garden soil. Make sure this soil has no fertilizer in it. if its the cheapest brand it probably wont. Take it home and dampen it if its is not damp already and use just that. I use this for my younger Sulcatas and leopards and it works great and costs just over a buck for a 20lb bag. Sand and rabbit pellets are far to dry and really should not be used. Sulcatas and torts require more humidity than many realize. The research to confirm this is popping up all over the place. I keep my soil damp yet not wet. You could even plant your grass right on this soil. When you feel the soil is old just replace it with another $1 bag and your good for another month.
