I'd only seen Racers in recent years, though an avid herper. Along the Klickitat River in WA, I could barely see their shadows as they dashed.



In 2006 & 2007, saw them again at Malheur Field Station in Harney County, OR. One lives under the office of the field station as a regular.



At the tip of Baja in 2006, I saw one periscoping. Same exact color as those in WA & OR.



Have never dared "go there" with Racers, since I like to feed live food and mice are most practical. I also have a respect for snakes which kill their food first, sparing it some measure of horror.



Your words of a majesty that refuses to submit are lofty & sublime. May the Racers ever be thus...
