I have four turtles and I have had three of these turtles for at least 6 to 7 years I raised them from small, four turtles two red eared sliders (1) female aprox. 6 or 7 yrs old (1) male approx. 4 yrs old and two eastern painted desert turtles (1) male approx.4 yrs. Old (1) female approx 4 yrs old.

This is not mating season and I don’t have a heater in this 150 gallon tank so here is my problem for the last couple of years my male red eared slider turtle is being very aggressive with my female red eared slider turtle biting at her, biting her legs as if he has been in heat for two years is this how they act after a certain age? I have had to set up a separate tank because even if I put them in the tank together for 5 minutes there he goes at her again. Help??

So now I have males in one tank females in the other and my painted turtle is being harassed and being bitten at by the other red eared female turtle and wont let her in the water….can someone tell me what the heck is going on??? Do turtles get more aggressive as they get older is there something I can do??

Thanks to anyone who has had this experience or can give advice?
