Howdy. I'm new but not as new as the five 3-toed hatchlings we found two days ago in our side yard, after fostering an adult 3-toe over the summer. They were a surprise to find, to say the least. Right now (two days post hatch) they are in a plastic sweater box on coconut substrate that I spray a couple times a day to keep moist. They have a Tupperware lid with water a folded piece of cardboard to crawl under, and at one end of the box I have a clamp-on light with a 40w ZooMed PowerSun that they can crawl under for light and warmth. I turn the light on for a couple of hours a day. They are near a north-facing window, so some daylight comes in, but no sunlight.

(pause for breath)

So here's my question: Is it normal for these little guys to flip themselves upside down what seems to me to be a lot? Do they need a different type of footing/substrate? Is the UV light too soon for little guys? Did I inherit a pack of right-side up challenged losers? I just wnt to make sure it's not something I'm doing.
