My adult male was extremely vocal when I got him (as an adult) last year. His screams accompanied his nervousness as his previous owner didn't handle him much. He has calmed down drastically now with regular handling and doesn't make much of a noise these days.

Some of the babies I've hatched this year (many from the above male) have been screamers, one young male in particular would screech his lungs out any time you touched him.

I've experienced this sort of noise with all of the geckos species I've ever bred (leos, caves, cresties and dune geckos) - some do it, some don't, but it mostly seems to be a "don't touch me" or "get away from me" noise that calms down the more they are handled and trust their owners.
