You said in your original post that she's been laying for a month now - they usually lay 1-2 eggs every 4 weeks or so, so if you're finding dessicated eggs it sounds like they're older and have dried up before you got to them.

I write down the date I find every single clutch, and after the first couple of clutches you can make a pretty good guess when they next lot will be laid and then be ready to check any nest sites around then or when you see her starting to dig.

I tend to put my male in with the female until she lays her first clutch, then seperate them for the rest of the breeding season, and focus on keeping her well fed and happy. When she stops laying I keep them seperate and give her a break over winter, so she's not being bred all year round.
