It depends on your level of experience and what you're looking for in a lizard.
In my opinion beardies are more friendly, easier to cater for and less inclined to get stressed compared to leachies which can be hard to handle if you get a particular grumpy one (or an adult which hasn't been handled much), leachies are also much easier stressed and a more delicate species to own in comparison to a beardie. I'd class leachies as more of a display lizard, whereas beardies are very handleable and interactive with people.
But like I said it depends on what you want out of the lizard - do you want something you can handle easily, or are you after a more challenging species to care for with less handling involved?
This is just my opinion - I have owned beardies for about 6 years and have never owned a leachie but know a number of people who have them and am going on what they've told me.
