Well, it's a piceus for sure. They typically prefer smaller food items than most coachwhips, my adults won't touch anything larger than a small hopper mouse. They seem to prefer two or three small meals per week rather than one large. They like it hot, like most masticophis. I'd leave him alone for at least the first month, as they stress easily. Make sure he's got a good sized hide too. That should get you started.
