Feeding W/C Coachwhip Question...

I collected this Coachwhip ( I think a red )this weekend and want to try my hand at keeping them... I've always liked them and now that I have the opportunity, want to see if I can make a go at it.
I'd like some input on what I should be offering for food at this age.
Here are the detials;

Collected in Coastal Los Angeles County
Approximately 13 inches
Prey items available at the collection site include several varieties of lizard and a large field rodent population.

There's also the random homeless inhabitants with their crazy dogs, but I'm not sure that they would fall under the prey item category for Coachwhips...

If anyone can give a positive ID that would much appreciated as well.
