I have used a regular twelve-inch-square pond filter, and its corresponding pump, for years and find that it works the best of anything that I've found. They are not cheap, but the ease of care is worth it. I keep my turtles (only one, the Blanding's, at the moment) in a 175-gallon plastic cattle tank. I give them natural floating-driftwood perches to sun themselves on, which they seem to love. With an added 30-watt aquarium heater and an air bubbler, they also hibernate in that tank over the winter.
