Have you checked with the New England Herp. Society??? how about letting local humane shelters know you are interested?? (even tho not typical, they may get some occasionally) or local veterinarians may have leads to placements. Once in a while I have seen reptiles ( & other pets ) offered free in classified ads in newspapers. Also call the nearest zoos and see what they say...they are frequently offered unwanted pets that they do not wish to accept and may be able to give you some leads. Good luck, I too love taking in the ones that really need a home, and am in the process of adding another snake or two to my household!
