Take your Krane heat mat and turn it upside down and hang it over the torts. Then cover it with heavy plastic or tarp with plenty of excess on the ground. They will be fine like that. You can put the heat matt on the ground as designed but it could draw fire ants. Also they tend to want to get off of it. This works fine unless your talking real low in the teens or more. You could try putting two layers of plastic over the whole hut and use a heating elament inside. That space heater uses to much ele. and is a fire waiting to happen. As far as inside your house, my Sulcutas sit in a big dog traveler on the floor in a not to hot room and besides the farting its not much truble. At first it sounds like a respratory noise, but its the wrong end. It helps if you soak the do-do out of them first. If they start fighting being locked up and trying to get out just feed them some mazuri,that stuff is like a sedative for tortoises. Winter! its blast!
