I wouldn't say it's the newspaper that changed his behavior, he more then likely just needed time to acclimate to his enviroment. You'll find that the more they get use to their surroundings the more curious and fun they become. lol.

As for sexing, I did probe my new iguana but I've been dealing with reptiles for nearly 2 decades and sexing has always been a major topic for me. I wouldn't let anybody try that on a lizard unless they really knew what they were doing, if not done properly they can really injure the lizard. Some signs of a "possible" male iguana would be longer dorsal spines, a larger dewlap, larger femoral pores but again it's not a 100% guarantee at such a young age. You can post some pics and we can guess for fun lol. I know i'd love to see the little guy
