Just a brown snake, sometimes called DeKays snakes [storia dekayi].Dont worry about those, there nonvenomous and usually pretty placid. Most DeKays snakes will not break 14 inches. It looks like your cat already had a go at the one in the pic. Best bet is to release it in the woods away from the area and out of harms way. Hopefully that wound heals up.
