usually boxies have to hibernate(especially the males),in order to be productive.i put mine in a little kiddie pool from wallyworld,a little over 6' across, maybe 2' deep.you know, the cheap($10 or so) heavy plastic ones.i dump 7 or 8 bags of cheap topsoil into it(no additives or fertilizers, just plain topsoil),add 2 water dishes(actually 2 large pyrex casserole dishes,9"x13",and let them go.they'll bury themselves down, and i usually won't see them for a couple months, unless there's a warm spell.always provide water, dehydration is one of the leading causes of death during hibernation.

this set-up has worked great for me for a couple years now,and i can use the dirt the next spring in my flower beds, prefertilized w/ turtle poo.
