it's hard to tell what it is from that angle,did you get any better pics?

i live in sc,i can narrow down the list for you.

it's not venemous.it's not a kingsnake,the main ones we have down here are chain kings,the snake pictured is too heavily bodied.without seeing a better pic,i would make an educated guess that it's either an abberant patterned water snake,or a hognosed snake.thats just going by the body size and shape,and 20 yrs or local herping
