Hello all!



I've just lost my female Desert-Striped because of cryptosporidiosis and, needless to say, I feel very sad about it. This is the second attack in my facility; that's why I came immediately alerted when noticing an unexpected weight loss in the snake. An ELISA test was performed, which provided full support to my fear. Upon the first terrible experience, in '08, I was told by a vet (who is a herpetoculturist as well) that the infected area should remain voided of any reptile for at least 6 months; I expected more than a year! The main challenge is to eliminate the oocysts. I had of course made a generous use of bleach, but this would be just uneffective! I found the following link through the redtailboas.com website: http://www.cdc.gov/crypto/daycare/outbreak.html> It says that 3% (10 vol.) hydrogen peroxide is the choice disinfectant. I wouldn't mind using it, but I guess the required amount might be 3 gallons or 4 and, at least in France, it is sold in small bottles. Anyway if some of you guys had the misfortune to have to deal with this plague, I would be very grateful for your suggestions.
