I was camping last weekend at Lake Casitas in Ventura, CA and we had this guy hanging around our sight all weekend long. I caught him right away to get some close up pics and some coachwhip handling experience...this was my first ever that I was able to catch. I had to wait for him to poke his head into a squirrel hole before I was able to get close enough to nab him. The rest of the weekend we just observed him waiting at the edge of the bushes in ambush mode from about 3 pm to 5 pm in hopes that a weary young ground squirrel would happen by...would have loved to see that. Around 5pm he headed out on patrol searching the nearby squirrel dens once again.
