First, the turtle that was trying to nest last night laid eggs on top of the ground, and one was smashed. She's an amputee so this is not unusual, but still frustrating....we tried to help her out this year by tilling and carefully prepping an area free of roots and stones, but she did not avail herself of this.

Then in the process of weighing and measuring the eggs , the $300 electronic scale I use crapped out midway through the process, so I couldn't finish the job. I have word out, so hopefully I'll be able to borrow one by the end of the day. I also hope the one that I have can be repaired.

Sigh.
