Ok, I've kept kenyans since 1998. I've ALWAYS kept them in a group setting. Never had a problem since I always seperate out to feed. I currently keep three 4 ft X 2ft boaphiles with small colonies of sand boas in them.

Saturday night I walk by one of my kenyan cages and check it to see if one of my two preganant girls has dropped her babies yet. Low and behold, I see one of the two males still in the cage constricting a baby. Didn't think to take a quick pic, just grabbed him and detached him from the baby which turned out to be fine. All in all, there were 19 babies and one unfertilized egg produced. One of the babies I found dead, but it was obvious that it was after it was born and moving around. Most of the babies were still wet, but this one had already dried off. My only assumption was that the male I found constricting the baby had previously killed this one, but didn't eat it. When given multiple prey items, I've seen kenyans kill several before beginning to eat, so this behavior isn't too surprising. I just wish I knew for sure whether he really planned to eat the baby or was just reacting to the movement and possibly birthing smell.

Definately a first for me, and I'm still trying to figure out what set this male off. He's a little of a finicky eater...will eat mice, but won't touch a rat. Oh well, just thought I'd share.
