>>Hi, I have a hypo cali king who I want to pair up next year with an amel corn. I have pictures of both parents, but don't know how to attach them so if you know how to please let me know that too. The snakes live together and have for two years. I feed them seperately and have never had any problems. Since they have been housed together all this time, would you suspect she the cornsnake will be more receptive to he the kingsnake. Have others found a male cali over a female corn to be any more successful than a male corn over a female cali or does that even matter. I also was wondering if hypomelanism or amelansim are at the same places genetically on these two species...as in will I get lighter patterns? I know many people say cali genes muddy up a pattern and my question is, if he is hypo will the patterning be less muddied?

He might not bother her while in the cage but when you go to breed them it will most likly be a different story and here's why. Cal kings like to bite the neck of the female when they mate. For some reason female cal kings don't seem to mind it but when a male cal king does that to a female corn she will freak out. You wont have any luck locking them up then.

Your best route is to get a male corn and a female cal king. It would also be in your best interest to have a female corn to get the male excited before switching him to the female calking. Best of luck.
