Just buying the regular crested gecko diet will be easiest for you right now. You can find it at Pangeareptile.com's store, which is a great place! Excellent service, easy to navigate, ships quickly (they have gorgeous geckos too) it's where I buy all my CGD from.

The base with the different flavors is mainly for people who would like to experiment around with the different tastes of their geckos. Both my crested and gargoyle eat the regular CGD just fine, so I've had no reason to try the two part mix. Looks like fun if I had a large colony though.

If you think there might be a chance of the lids getting bumped off (like if there's cats in the house) or of there being room enough for the geckos to escape, then I would go ahead and get the clips. Otherwise they're not really needed.
