I have been feeding my colubrid and small retics chicks all summer. I would not feed only chicks but if you do chicks every other or every third feeding I think you would be fine. I cant speak for anyone else but I have noticed explosive growth whith the snakes that have taken to chicks. I think the snakes are able to digest them very quickly and as a result I have also noticed the snakes that eat them do not stay full as long or seem to be hungry again just a few days after eating one.
